Dental Extractions in Dallas
At Thrive Dental and Orthodontics we try everything we can to save a tooth but if the decay or fracture is too large you may need a dental extraction. Extractions are nothing to be afraid of as we have highly skilled dentists who are trained in minimally traumatic dental surgery.
Signs you may need a dental extraction in Dallas, TX
Tooth extractions are relatively common. Here are a few signs you may need a dental extraction:
1. Jaw or gum swelling that has lasted more than a few days
2. Large fracture on your tooth that you can visibly see
3. Large cavity on one or more of your teeth that you can visibly see.
4. Pain around the areas of your wisdom teeth that persists for more than a few days
5. Very mobile tooth or teeth due to bone level loss.
Not all wisdom teeth need to be removed but many people no longer have space for them. If they are causing you discomfort or you have cavities on your wisdom teeth it is highly likely that you will need to get them removed.
We can remove wisdom teeth with just local anesthesia or you can be fully sedated. We want our patients in Dallas to be as comfortable as possible for this procedure.
Multiple teeth extraction
Sometimes you have excessive bone loss which will lead to multiple teeth needing to be extracted. There are multiple methods to restore your oral health to proper function and our dentists are capable of discussing those options with you.
Healing as fast as possible after an extraction
After your tooth extraction procedure, we’ll provide you with some post-operative maintenance and care instructions. It’s important to keep your mouth clean by brushing regularly and rinsing with saltwater 24 hours after the procedure for two to three times a day. If you have any questions about aftercare instructions or any symptoms that you’re experiencing, feel free to contact our office at any time.
